When the CultureInvest! Congress together with the European Cultural Brand Award 2019 takes place for the first time at the Zollverein, Essen's UNESCO World Heritage Site, the "most beautiful colliery in the world" will present itself as a tourist attraction and at the same time as a new powerhouse of the creative economy. With 1.5 million visitors a year flocking to the Ruhr Museum, the Monument Path and the Red Dot Design Museum, Zollverein with its famous trestle winding tower is a lighthouse and landmark of the Ruhr area, a projection screen for our industrial history. But Zollverein is much more than a museum. With its departure from coal, the World Heritage Site underwent a complex transformation process and in recent years has developed into both an educational campus and a growing business location.
On November 7, in the cente piece of Shaft XII, the former selection belt hall, where rocks used to be removed from coal on a multiple number of conveyors, over 650 decision-makers from the world of culture, business and the media will be honoured in eight categories for their outstanding commitment and their innovative projects in cultural management, cultural marketing, cultural tourism and culture promotion. For the 14th time already, the gala event offers the opportunity to make contacts in an exclusive atmosphere and to engage in conversation.
