Europe's largest cultural congress CulturInvest! will take place from Wednesday, November 10, to Friday, November 12, 2021, in the state capital Dresden. Under the motto "#transnational – Solutions for a culture beyond.", 150 experts and 650 participants will discuss transnationalism and its significance for culture and business, for locality and globality, and for new, innovative and forward-looking solutions. The program includes discussion panels on citizen participation and transnational cultural projects, as well as expert presentations on cultural financing and cultural heritage.
The conference venue is the Kraftwerk Mitte with the tjg. theater junge generation and the Staatsoperette Dresden. In addition, participants can expect a varied social program with a guided tour and opening party at the Albertinum, and on Thursday, November 11, 2021, the Staatsoperette Dresden will be the backdrop for the award ceremony of the 16th European Cultural Brand Awards.
Saxony's Minister of Culture Barbara Klepsch, who has assumed patronage, says: "The Saxon state government is happy to accompany the KulturInvestKongress and help make it possible in one of the most exciting regions by providing funding. Dresden's application for the European Capital of Culture has set important impulses that continue to have an effect - the congress is one of them. We need togetherness to make our future a fruitful time. The congress offers a good framework for this togetherness, be it interdisciplinary cooperation, the question of sustainability and thus also of cultural work that is suitable for all generations, and not least the question of social and private-sector commitment to culture."
The Lord Mayor of the state capital Dresden, Dirk Hilbert, added: "Dresden is a very good choice as a congress location for the motto of this year's congress. Transnational influences in the fields of crafts, architecture and art already shaped historic Dresden. In addition, our city is also an efficient science and research location to this day. I am very pleased that Saxony's state capital will give impetus to this important European meeting as host in 2021. With Kraftwerk Mitte, we are offering the congress a fitting venue - a creative and cultural meeting place for theater, art and education in Dresden." The former combined heat and power plant from the 19th century has been transformed into a significant art, culture and creative location in Dresden. In addition to the State Operetta and the tjg. theater junge generation, the site houses conservatory rehearsal rooms, an event location, the Energy Museum, the Central Cinema, gastronomic facilities and modern workspaces.
