J. OUTREACH

26 November 2020, 2 pm - 5 pm

Political education promotes the democratisation of our society in Europe. With their activities, cultural workers contribute to giving authenticity to the slogan "Culture for All" and to creating real conditions that allow diverse members of society to have a say. Through strategies and methods of culture, opportunities for participation can be enhanced and democratic processes initiated. Interventions are needed to ensure that people with low-level educational qualifications, migration backgrounds or refugee experiences are equally included in cultural offerings, in other words, to ensure equality and equal rights. With new forms of art and culture beyond the canon of the educated middle classes and the inclusion of all competencies, the cultural landscape will be able to focus on responsible citizens and activelyhelp to shape society.

In 2020, the cultural experience in your own living room became the "New Normal": artists like Igor Levit played alone in the living room and at the same time audience records were set: Some streams reached up to 100,000 sofa viewers instead of the usual one or two thousand visitors in the concert hall. How sustainable are these digital successes? What makes a quantum leap out of the straw fire? The cultural media library FOYER.de has analysed the most exciting and promising digital offers in the classical music segment.
