"The people, not the houses, make the city." From England
Every year, the European city ranking lists the most livable cities in Europe. But which criteria play a role in the selection? What makes a city so attractive and unique? And what can the ideal cultural and creative city look like? In the 21st century, more than half of Europe’s population lives in cities. They represent innovative economic centres and offer citizens and their guests a home through the direct experience of art and culture. Cities in Europe are networking to learn and jointly shape the debate on the future of a Europe open to the world. The lectures and digcussions in this track document how urban culture can improve the quality of life, how a culture of exchange and participation can emerge in the cities, and how these processes can be strengthened by the use of modules from the digital toolbox.
