„Cross-section of two worlds: creativity is the basis of both artistic expression and entrepreneurial success." Konrad Pochhammer, Managing Director RSM
Alongside artists, cultural entrepreneurs are the most important innovators in the cultural market and in the creative industries. With their products or services, they make a significant contribution to cultural change in the European cultural market. This is not only about recognition and fame, but also about appropriate financing models to develop sustainable returns. The economisation of art and culture is often associated with the claim to sustainability without public funding. Especially small operators who want to take the step into independence in the cultural sector face a host of challenges. At this track, cultural and economic experts will be displaying a unique transfer of knowledge for choosing the right form of business, raising capital or dealing with tax issues. With practical examples, they show how an idea can become an entrepreneurial reality and thus a market success.

Challenges of Entrepreneurship in an Uncertain World (engl.) Herausforderungen des Entrepreneurships in einer unsicheren Welt
Michael Heinz, Future Strategist
This presentation looks at two aspects or dimensions of cultural entrepreneurship. The first dimension describes the various functions and roles of being or becoming a successful entrepreneur. What, in general, does an entrepreneur do? Dealing with ambiguity, uncertainty, risk-taking and problem-solving. All these functions are assumed in order to produce business value for which a price can be set and consumers or institutions have a need for (a market exists). Furthermore, entrepreneurs must develop a strong vision and build a solid business plan along with a strategy in order to pave the way forward and implement the respective ideas. Implementing plans to organise people, capital and other resources. And, ideally speaking, being always on the watch for changes and adapting respectively, honoring the course of reality. The second aspect zeroes in on the new type of cultural entrepreneurs who are functioning as change agents and are producing or providing some sort of cultural value. How does this compare to social entrepreneurship. And, In order to be successful in this dramatically complex world, entrepreneurs must not only be bold and visionary but also highly competent, skillful and curious in the adaptation of new technology and collaborative ways of working together (picking the brains of like-minded people). There can be an overlap between cultural and social entrepreneurship.
