Making a country's cultural heritage and regional identity known beyond its borders means the need to use much more than traditional forms of advertising: European cities, both small and large, and regions have increasingly taken up the issue of 360° communication. But European city and regional brands need to offer more than a rich and diverse experience. For example, the ability to become a European Capital of Culture has provided cities and regions with the opportunity to draw attention to their cultural richness and at the same time to promote their identity both domestically and abroad. The image-enhancing title of "European Capital of Culture" has established itself as a brand and attracts many visitors.
