Germany's cultural infrastructure thrives on the interplay and interaction between the state, market and civil society. Accordingly, public, private non-profit and private for-profit cultural institutions all have art and cultural offerings. The simple distinction between for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations is not sufficient for a differentiated analysis. Because regardless of whether an organization in the cultural industry is non-profit or for-profit, it still forms partnerships with a variety of organizations that follow different logics: So a publicly funded museum may elect to use the services of a commercially oriented service. And commercial arts organizations rely on the structure of public funding. The forum is dedicated to fostering mutual investment in creative alliances. It reflects the stimulating relationships and processes that shape different cultural institutions as well as the "cultural industry" as such.
