The aim of cultural policy is to provide a legal and social framework for the promotion of culture in the public and private spheres and thus to create a basis for the interplay of culture, the economy and society in shaping cultural life. Changing household situations and changing social structures create new challenges for cultural policy in an international context that we must overcome in order to develop new objectives and perspectives. Against this background we must consider the future role of private funding in particular. It represents a key element not only in the national context, but also in the maintenance of international relations. Cultural policy can no longer be drafted just in national or regional terms. The cultural sector has long been internationally focused.
